The fifth edition of the annual rock concert, Rockestra, which happens to be also the last under this Presidency, promises to be the best ever with Malta’s finest talent delivering a popular repertoire of songs accompanied by the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra.
Rockestra 2013 was under the musical direction of Sigmund Mifsud. Pawlu Borg Bonaci is heading the artistic direction of the concert which is organised by The Malta Community Chest Fund to collect funds for people in need.

“Local talent is the backbone of Rockestra and established artists shared the stage with up and coming singers to deliver popular rock songs to the tunes of the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra. The annual concert has gone from strength to strength during the past four editions and we anticipated that this year’s concert would be the best one ever.  Due to popular demand, we ask the people not to leave it till the last minute to purchase tickets, to avoid being disappointed.  Attending also means contributing towards a good cause,” said the President George Abela.

Parliamentary Secretary for Culture and Local Government, Dr. Jose’ Herrera said “Thanks to  Rockestra, the National Philarmonic Orchestra is supporting the local talent, and also contributing towards the benefit of the society.  This is a concert were the National Philarmonic Orchestra offers its services  towards  Rockestra in kind for a good cause.” Dr Herrera concluded by encouraging the general public to attend and enjoy the show but above all support the needs of the Malta Community Chest Fund.
Artistic director, Paul Borg Bonaci said “Emerging artists will also have the opportunity to mingle with Malta’s most popular singers such as Ira Losco, Ivan Grech of Winter Moods, Kevin Borg, Matt of Red Electrik and Konrad Pule.  Rockestra 2013 will include works by groups such as Aerosmith, Queen, Labrinth, Pink Floyd, The Police, Robbie Williams, Inxs, Deep Purple and others.
