Feb 2012 - Eurovision Song Contest

The Malta Eurovision song Contest was held at the MFCC, Ta’Qali on the 3rd and 4th of February
2012.  The event, organised by TVM, Malta’s Public Service station, saw the venue, MFCC, transformed into a large Studio Theatre.  The television crew installed tracks and giant cranes to allow cameras to intrude and capture the necessary shots, to enhance the images received at home, hence providing the viewer with an enriched visual experience.  The versatility of the space provided at MFCC allows for this adaptability, allowing the TV crew, studio audiences and televiewers to be fully satisfied with the show and the level of production achieved.
The event, undoubtedly dominated by the song contest and the stiff competition between the participants saw Kurt Calleja’s “This Is the Night” win the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest.  This earns him the right to represent Malta in Baku’s Eurovision Song Contest later this year. The song is written and composed by Johan Jämtberg, Mikael Gunnerås and Kurt Calleja himself.
The other participants placed as follows:
Runner up – Pure - Claudia Faniello
Answer with your eyes – Amber
Petals on a rose – Gianni
Look at me now – Richard Edwards
I will fight for you – (Papa’s song) – Fabrizio Faniello
In your eyes – Lawrence Gray

Mystifying eyes – Corazon
Time – Wayne Micallef
Take me far – Francesca Borg
First time – Kaya
You are my life – Janvil

MFCC wishes the winner success in his representation in Baku and thanks TVM for entrusting MFCC to provide the space and facilities to organize a show of such high caliber.
