Sea Power in Malta with Powerboat P1 Championships and new boatshow
The 2008 Powerboat P1 Malta Grand Prix of the Sea was a great success with teams from Powerboat P1, MFCC and Valletta Gateway Terminal in the Grand Harbour working together to create a spectacular event.
The P1 Powerboat Championship saw up to ten boats racing in each of the two categories: Supersport and Evolution, with entries from Italy, UK, Germany, USA and China. The races were eagerly watched from viewing boats and the harbourside.
Adding an additional attraction to fans of marine activities, the first Malta Grand Harbour Boat Show, organised by the MFCC event support team, added a new and exciting dimension to this championship. With exhibitors and associated brands from across Malta, visitors enjoyed seeing the latest boats and equipment, whilst watching a world class sporting event.
On dry land, the boat show made full use of the MFCC's floating venue for hospitality guests, a stage podium with full lighting and PA system for the winner's presentations after each race, full catering facilities, concessions and family entertainment areas.
