10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1-1-0... Happy New Year! Pure Ruby Classics NYE was simply fantastic! Very few parties have had the kind of turn out this one had – but then again, very few parties have managed to cater for such a crowd. The MFCC at Ta' Qali proved to be very ideal, any misconceptions I might have had about the place have vanished now that I've seen it's potential at its very best. Excellent lighting, a large circular stage accompanied by several big screens at the side (a must especially for the VeeJaying session), an unrivalled sound system and a surprisingly effective ventilation system formed a set-up which enabled this shows' success, and I haven't even started to comment about the content yet.

 
From a live orchestra to light shows performed by the world famous T8 Robot. Ruby walked us through his sixteen year career as a professional deejay by performing hits from 1992 up until 2008 – a great way to reminisce. You might also imagine what the crowd's response was when “Cabrio” and the award winning “Living in the Dark” was played just before the Top 10 All Time Classics VJ session began. Some noteworthy acts which featured with prominence include; T8 Robot Show; Capeoira Brazilian Martial Arts Demonstration; Flamenco Spanish Dance Show; 2 live performances by Ira Losco; African and Ethnic Live Rhythm by Peter Paul, Antoine and Grigal; and the enthusiastically awaited live performance by Ruby along with a 15 piece orchestra. The Veejaying session has been mentioned a lot so it's about time that some information is given, 10 voted for anthems were synced with visuals by done and produced my Ruby himself.
 
Ruby admitted to us all an hour or so before the end (and here I will be taking the liberty of paraphrasing); he lives his life with one constant thought in his mind: deejaying. It is quite evident, so very few events have had such a flowing evening, especially on New Year's Eve. This year we will be hearing much more from this talented deejay who promises even greater fame, of that we are sure here at OldSkool. Congrats go to our dear friend for his spectacular show, 2009 could not have begun any better.
